Last week I decided I needed to try my hands again at making a raglan knit shirt. I've always love the chevron pattern and I have a couple of loose balls of yarns that is perfect.
It took me a lot of research and finally settled on a nice slightly "lacey" knit, with the simplest pattern.
Row 1: k1 (selvedge), *[k2tog, k5, yo, k1, yo, k5, skpo] repeat * until (selvedge), k1
Row 2: purl
Row 1: *k2, p2
Row 2: *p2, k2
I used Caron Simply Soft Light Yarns in Hawaiian Sky and Heavy Cream, both have been left-over yarns. That's why I love Chevron patterns, it's the best way to left-over yarns that are just lying around, just make sure that you use the lesser amount of yarn as the accent. In my case I had 2 balls of yarn of the Heavy Cream and only half a ball of the Hawaiian Sky.
It took me 1 week and a really sprained pinkie but I finally finished the shirt with a nice V-neck.
In the end I decided on short sleeve since I didn't have enough yarn for a long sleeve. Also, I tried my hand on a small Intarsia design (something for my next posting).
